Our floating hostel is moored beside Oberbaumbrücke, which happens to be one of the most beautiful bridges in Berlin, and the main connection between the two party districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. Directly beside us, the East Side Gallery stretches out into the distance, the longest remaining piece of the Berlin wall. Just three decades ago, entering this area meant certain death, and your path to the boat was the previous border with it´s lines of watch towers and barbed wire. Now the area is a magnet for tourists and backpackers from all around the world.
We are floating on the east side of the Spree river, in Friedrichshain – a district full of clubs, cafes, bars, and discos sprinkled all over, including the legendary Berghain. Also Kreuzberg, directly across the river, is a Mekka for nightcrawlers. However, during the day, both districts are relaxed destinations full of markets, galleries, and parks.
Thanks to our ideal public transport connections (U & S Warschauerstraße), the tourist attractions in Mitte and West Berlin are just minutes away, especially Alexanderplatz, The Museum Island, and Hackescher Markt.
