Shipotel-Berlin GmbH data privacy statement: We are a GDPR compliant business.

Your privacy is important to us, and we respect the trust you instill in us when you share your information with us. We obviously collect information you give us for reasons associated with the booking processes for our hotel, and we also collect information in the background in order to give us a better overview of how people interact with us online. Here you can find all the information we have regarding data we collect on you whilst on our website.

Should you need to review and amend/delete the personal data we have collected on you, please contact us directly.  We will send you a full breakdown of the information we have access to about you within a week, and you have the option to update or delete any part, or all of it.

We do not collect any information or data on you that we do not need or use.

Bookings (Dormbook):

In order to book with us, you will need to use the booking form on our website, a third party booking agent, or by contacting us directly. All booking information we receive is input directly into our Dormbook booking management system, which is operated by a company in Switzerland called Alixon. Read Alixon´s Data Privacy Statement below. Dormbook stores all information you share, including email address, phone number, address, standard requests, comments, and credit card information on their secure servers. Your personal contact information is stored in this booking system for a number of years, in order to make the booking process smoother for you, should you decide to rebook. All your personal information is stored on secure Dormbook servers, and not on our premises, but accessible only from our hotel terminals.

Dormbook (Alixon GmbH) Data Privacy statement:

“We (Alixon) carry out data processing and storage on behalf of our customers (Hostels). This data is also used to optimize and further develop our system, and may also include the conducting of anonymous user statistics, and reusing of any such anonymous data.

The data we manage is stored on servers in Switzerland and Germany, however under certain circumstances, data exchange with other providers (third party systems) may take place. In addition to these interfaces (Agoda, booking.com, Deskline / Feratel, Expedia, HiHostels, HostelsClub, Myallocator, SiteMinder, Switzerland Travel Center, Tomas, TripAdvisor), data may also be exchanged with Stripe and Datatrans (eg. for credit card details and debit). In addition, the data may be passed on to any system defined by the hostel. Which, if any, third parties are included in a data exchange with the hostel depends on the said hostel´s conditions, and will be explained in their T&C´s”. 

Direct Bookings through our Website:

In order to book directly with us on our website, you will be using an integrated iFrame on our booking page, which connects directly to Dormbook (See above). In order to use our booking request form, you will need to access our website, through which you will be tracked by Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel (See below)

Agent Bookings:

Should you book with us through a third party booking agency, like Booking.com, Hostelworld, or similar,  we receive your name, booking request, and comments. From some agents we may receive your email address, home/billing address, and phone number. Most agents we use do not share customer credit card information with us. Personal information we receive from third party booking agents is stored in our Dormbook booking system (See above). In order to find a complete overview of how a specific booking agent handles personal information and data, please refer to their website´s privacy statement. We do not share any personal information we receive through Agent Websites with any third party, except the Alixon GmbH (Dormbook) booking management software.

Email:

Contact made with us through email is accessed through a secured Microsoft Outlook account, on a password secured terminal. In order to process your booking, we add your information into our booking management system Dormbook (See above). Correspondence is archived in our email accounts for 5 years in order to refer to previous bookings, invoices, payments etc. Bookings made through email are processed in Dormbook (See above). We do not share any personal information from our Email servers with any third party.

Booking Request Form:

Information shared with us through our Booking request form will be received through our email account (See above), and processed through Dormbook (See above). In order to use our booking request form, you will need to access our website, through which you will be tracked by Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel (See below).

All Inkl. (Our hosting service)

Our hosting service provides us with our online space and allows us to bring you our online services. This is done for our hostel through All Inkl. Read All Inkl´s privacy statement here: Once you have visited our website, All Inkl will have collected your IP address, MAC address, and information about your browser and device. This information is stored for security reasons on the All Inkl. servers, and we do not use, access, or share this information.

Google Analytics:

Once you land on our website, your movements are being counted and tracked by a system called Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. These are text files that are stored on your computer and that allow an analysis of the use of the website by you. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. We do not knowingly share this information with any third party, do not track any IP addresses, and delete this information after three years. This data remains completely anonymous.

We use a Facebook icon on our homepage, to which we link our main Facebook page. When you land on our website, Facebook will use this icon to collect information about you which is stored on their servers in the EU and US. This data remains inaccessible to us. Facebook Pixel:

Once you land on our website, your movement information is being collected  by a system called Facebook Pixel and stored on their servers in the EU and US. We use this data to help us build Facebook audiences of people who have an interest in us and our services, and advertise further services to them. Pixel also allows us to gain further insights into how people with Facebook accounts interact with our website. The data collected by Facebook Pixel on our behalf will be deleted after 180 days. This data remains completely anonymous.

Twitter:

We use a Twitter icon on our homepage, to which we link our main Twitter page. When you land on our website, Twitter will use this icon to collect information about you, which is stored on their servers in the US. This data remains inaccessible to us. Read Twitter´s data privacy statement here:

SSL Encryption
